marriage and IC

Post a new topicby livingwith on Thu May 22, 2008 12:23 pm

I am 24 years old and was diagnosed with IC at the age of 19 (although I have had problems with bladder pain for as far back as my mremory reaches, at least as young as six) Receiveng an IC diagnosis was the must frustrating thing I have ever been through. I saw countless Gynos and Uros before finding a doctor who understood what I was going through. For a long time I felt like I was crazy or making a big deal out of nothing. Over the years I have developed other complication associated with...Read the full article

After much self research, I have learned how to control my IC. I take Prelief tablets with almost everything I eat or drink, unless I am sure that particular food or drink won't hurt me. I don't take any chances and my doctor assures me that Prelief is harmless. It is truly a MIRACLE to me! I also asked my doctor to prescribe hydroxyzine to me to take at night to prevent the many trips to the bathroom. It also has worked wonders. Some people take it in the daytime too, but I don't need it as long as I take the Prelief. It takes a few days to get used to the hydroxzine because of the next morning drowiness but that soon goes away. I believe you have to do your own research to find what works for you. I am so happy to have my life back and do the normal things other people do and with no pain. I can also sleep as a normal person because of the hydroxyzine. If I forget the Prelief, the horrible pain comes back. I learned about Prelief on my own so you may want to do your own research on it too. I also found out about hydroxyzine on my own. I can't begin to tell you how thankful I am for Prelief and Hydroxyzine!!

When i read ur article it was like looking into my own life. I have been with my husband for 4 years now but married for 1. He also knew what he was getting himself into, but things have gotten alot worse since then for us sexually. I have to stop in the middle cause it hurts so bad cant even finish, and u know what thats like for a man, but he also is very understanding and caring. But what got me about ur story the most is when u said that ur problems went away in ur first trimester of pregnancy. When i got pregnant its like there was no ic, other then the frequent stops to the bathroom which is also normal when ur pregnant. But now i have had to go see another doc about the ic cause now that my son is 6 months old they have come back (how weird is that) I thought that i was crazy or something and then when i tell my docs that the pain and everything went away when i got pregnant they look at me like im crazy or something. Sometimes i start to feel like a hypocondriact, cause its one thing after another, but u know when there is something wrong with ur body. But I just figured i would respond to ur post, just thought it was weird about the whole pregnancy thing and our kids being the same age when it started back up again. Hope all goes well with urself and ur family good luck.

Hi,
I'm not married yet but have been living with my boyfriend for almost 4 years. Thankfully, he is supportive and like you, an orgasm sends me into a tailspin for a long time. Thank God for pain medication. No one knew or heard of what I had when I was diagnosed, so, I made copies of things I found in books and online and gave them to everyone I could. I usually look like crap, I lost 16 pounds and although I only use blush, I am always pale. I can't sit long because then the pain really hits full force. I am in the process of getting the Interstim Implant. Please check out my posts..maybe there is something in there that could help you....regards,
